Service Description

12 week DBT Programme. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an approach to helping people who have problems with their emotions or the things they find themselves doing. DBT was founded in 1993 by Marsha Linehan. Since its beginnings, DBT has been successfully used to treat Borderline Personality Disorder and many other conditions, such as other personality disorders, depression, and self-harming and suicidal behaviours (Dimeff, Koerner, and Linehan 2006). Studies reported that the results were positive, with the participants exhibiting significant improvement in suicidality, self-harming behaviour, regulation of emotions, and symptoms of depression. DBT normally lasts for an extended period of time, up to 1.5 years. This is an intense programme of 12 weeks covering all DBT skills.
